Quite
often it is necessary to lighten or edit a photo you have taken so that
the anomalies are clearer and easier to see. There are many
programs out there but Gimp comes very close to all the features
that programs like PhotoShop and Paint Shop Pro have. It has many
capabilities. It can be used as a simple paint program, an expert
quality photo retouching program, an online batch processing system, a
mass production image renderer, an image format converter, etc.

Recording
Audacity can record live audio through a microphone or mixer, or digitize recordings from cassette tapes, vinyl records, or minidisks. With some sound cards, it can also capture streaming audio. * Record from microphone, line input, or other sources. * Dub over existing tracks to create multi-track recordings. * Record up to 16 channels at once (requires multi-channel hardware). * Level meters can monitor volume levels before, during, and after recording.
